Ghana is located in Western Africa on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. The area is estimated to be 92,456 square miles, and is usually known as a hot, dry country. Around A.D. 200, trade was still infrequent because of the harsh Sahara desert. When camels became a new travel method, many more trade routes were made in both the desert and the savanna. Unfortunately, the forests lacked salt, but they did contain many gold mines. The Sahara contained the salt that they needed; so overall, Ghana had essentially everything it's people required.
